About us
Founded in 1967, Temple Beth El is Boca Raton’s first Jewish congregation. Tradition not withstanding, what makes it the most unique temple in the country is its Mausoleum – something that is “extraordinary and special.”
Built on Temple Beth El’s 10-acre campus, the mausoleum was completed in three phases over 13 years. Being with community permeated the thought process for this project and is what the mausoleum is all about—a way members can be with community throughout the cycle of life and for generations to come.
Steve Throne, a former member of the congregation’s Board of Trustees put it best: “Religiously it fills the life cycle because everything takes place at the temple from baby namings, bar and bat mitzvahs to weddings, worshiping and a final resting place.”
In Phases I and II, patterned brick walkways lead down breeze-filled corridors to a rotunda and cascading fountain. Phase III, completed in 2005, features an air-conditioned two-story structure.
The Joyce Throne Meditation Garden, a lush tropical outdoor garden with a flowing water feature and teakwood benches, sits just outside the entrance to all three phases of the Mausoleum and provides a tranquil area for visitors to meditate, reflect and offer prayers. Many people select a crypt or niche near the meditation garden because of the perpetual serenity offered by the beautiful garden setting.
Our attention to the facility where you or your loved ones rest is of the utmost importance to us. When our members are laid to rest, they are comforted knowing that their Jewish community has a vested interest in their eternal resting ground.
Perpetual Care means so much more within a community versus a for profit business.
